This is 'Brian' - The Bavarian Beast

This is Dave Russell's second BMW e36 racecar. In preparation for the 2025 Race of Remembrance his previous e36 had a close encounter of the wrong kind with the tyre wall of Anglesey's race track and sadly had to be retired. With only 5 weeks before the team were due to be sitting on the grid for the start of that years ROR, a replacement car was needed urgently.  Step forward 'Brian', a 1994 e36 325. With all hands to the pump the team, with help from friends and fellow competitors, turned out a great looking car, that miraculously performed on track as well as it looked off the track. (the story of our journey from tyre wall to chequered flag can be read here - Takona.

The story of why our racing steed is called Brian, is thanks to Dave's father-in-law, Brian Cox. Brian and his wife Ilsa were accomplished club racers who introduced Dave to circuit racing and supported him through his early days of racing. Sadly Brian passed away in 2025, but remains a big influence over Dave's motivation to race.

Who Are We?

The formation of our team of racers and crew came about through a chance meeting at the 2023 Race of Remembrance (ROR).

After 3 seasons of supporting Mission Motorsport at the ROR, Team Principal Paul Wooding, was approached by Dave Russell to see if we would be interested in using his BMW for the 2024 season.

From this catalyst came the need to form a new team give ourselves a name and more fundamentally give ourselves a purpose that was equally as fulfilling as it had been to support Mission Motorsport.

We therefore set out to create a metaphor for mental fitness and to capture the spirit of the Race of Remembrance;
“Never say die and keep on moving”.

We have also committed to continue giving back to the community that has done so much to help Veterans and their families; Mission Motorsport, the Armed Forces Motorsport Charity who are our chosen charity for 2026.
